UK GAMBLING LAW...RELOADED!

Just when we were telling you how European Committee has repeatedly urged France to do something about its online gambling regulations, we run into this! Now, the US Government is urging Britain to revise and amend some of its new gambling laws. Then, having assumed “gambling”, the centre of sanity, I cannot help fancying what would happen if the whole world went mad all round it. But, wait, it already did!
Here it goes! The main reason why the US Government wants a clear view over the British gambling, it’s because they’ve started entire money- laundering ‘mass-hysteria’, especially these days, when US economy smells like a recession.
However, the recommendation was kindly introduced in a recent report, presented to the US Congress. The report has also included new regulations, which asks Britain to draw up new rules, in order to monitor bank customers with links to foreign regimes. And, as a result of the same legislation, the US call for changes to the Gambling Act 2005, which aims to protect children and vulnerable people, cut crime and keep games fair. Are we the only ones detecting desperate tactics?
However, operators will have to prove they have all they need to turn gambling into a more socially responsible act, which means using open social networks that can be easy monitored. In response, several critics have expressed fears that the result of the biggest overhaul of regulations for decades could be a rise in problem gambling; especially because bookmakers and online betting sites will be free to advertise their services on TV and radio in the UK for the first time, not to mention all casinos will be given green light to indulge customers with “rollover jackpots” and more.
Even the Salvation Army raised concerns that the change could lead to the normalization of an addictive activity. In fact, the Church charity and church organization allows its visitors to express online voting, regarding the newly-introduced Gambling Act. They ask whether the new laws protect children and those susceptible to gambling addiction. The result was 70% “Not all All”.
Then, how come people complain Britain is gambling like crazy? Only last year, they spent £250m betting on the Grand National. Much of that money had been from the same people who think gambling harms the society. I guess they were only enjoying a social ritual, right? Even shocking, they don’t even have a super-massive casino to spend all this money. They do it silently and then start to complain, while the US is whining all the time and gets banned for going online.
In addition, it was also reported that the State Department's annual International Narcotics Control Strategy Report has labeled Britain among one of more than 50 "major money laundering countries". This is a big deal if we consider the other nations on the list, such as such as Afghanistan, Colombia and Russia as well as... the US, itself.
Since Britain is a nation of enraged gamblers, another important legal entity, such as Britain's FBI-style, Serious Organized Crime Agency (Soca) has looked deeper into the matter and concluded that there are £15 billion illegal gains to be laundered in the UK, each year.
Overall, even if banks took special measures against money laundering, the reports suggest that criminals are turning increasingly to card fraud, "purchasing high-value assets", or other new ways to suck money.
British anti-money laundering regime might act like a “pit-bull”, but it didn’t convince the US. Consequently, the report calls for the UK to bring in new rules to monitor transactions made by "politically exposed persons" - with “links to foreign regimes”. Not to mention, it also calls for changes to the Gambling Act 2005, bringing in new checks against criminal proceeds being laundered through gaming.
We’ll be back with more info on that, that’s for sure!

MEET THE NEW BREED OF ONLINE QUALIFIERS: THE COUNTRY DEVOTEES!

What would you do for your country? Would you die for it? Or, perhaps, you would gamble for it? If the answer is “yes!”, then bring in four of your best mates, eager to sacrifice time and money and listen up!

It has been announced that five brave amateur online poker players are going to be given the opportunity to compete alongside some of the best in the business. The “evil” brains between the whole deal, which are going to test your strengths are supposed to be the two virtual casino “daddies”, namely PartyPoker.com and its Poker Nations Cup in Cardiff.
Moreover, the Alderney and Gibraltar-licensed site has officially announced that its VIP online qualifiers are going to play with some of their nation’s best at the third annual event in the Welch capital, in a sort of “national pride” defense strategy against the “enemies”.
It has been also reported that the cool tournament will feature six-person top teams from Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, Ireland, Holland and the United States. They’ll be battling it out in both group and individual competitions for a chance to take home the top prize of $100,000 and a sack full of respect. And each team includes one qualifier alongside five world-class professionals from the same nation with a buy-in of $5,000 each. Of course, United States, where online poker is still illegal, makes an exception! And if you add the $100,000 donation by PartyPoker.com, the total prize pool for the event in Wales goes up to $280,000.
Furthermore, each player is competing once to score points for their team. The individual match winner is taking home $20,000 for his efforts. All six teams will then compete in a ‘tag’ final with the size of their opening chip stacks determined by the points gained in the six heats. Each team captain’s judgment is vital as it is up to them to make tactical substitutions and call strategic ‘time outs’ and the winning nation will be the last with a player standing.
Remember! The last year’s event saw Sweden triumph over the United States in the ‘tag’ final while Great Britain took the cherry on the cake, the year before. I hear PartyBets.com makes Sweden three to one favorites to win again this year with the United States second with odds of seven to two. Besides that, Great Britain is third favorite, closely followed by Ireland and Germany with Holland having the highest odds at 13 to two. Who do you think will crack first?

“HARRAH’S ENTERTAINMENT” BECOMES “CAESARS ENTERTAINMENT”!

Harrah's Entertainment has just announced that its board of directors- which by the way, also features some new faces- has approved a great plan to change the company's name to “Caesars Entertainment Corporation”. Why “Caesar”? Well, because it’s ‘catchy’, manly stuff; it sends you back in time in the luxurious ages and it goes great with the casino industry, which involves strength, taste for competition and strong values.
They also say this cool name was designed to capitalize on the high international name recognition enjoyed by the Caesars brand and to appeal to customers attracted by its connotation of opulence and world-renowned entertainment. Of course, dining and shopping sprees options are integral.
Harrah's Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Gary Loveman said: “Adoption of the name Caesars Entertainment Corporation will provide our company with greater prestige and help attract strategic business partners as we pursue expansion opportunities in new jurisdictions. The change also reflects our evolution into a full-service entertainment company that offers a rich range of gaming and non-gaming amenities to our guests.”
Moreover, the Harrah's name will continue to be part of the three primary casino brands, along with Caesars and Horseshoe. Loveman also added the name change is not going to alter the ‘company's culture’, nor its adherence to a Code of Commitment that governs its relationships with employees, customers and communities: “Our employees will remain dedicated to the innovation, customer-service excellence and corporate citizenship that have been hallmarks of our company for decades. But this re-branding of the corporate name can open exciting new opportunities for us in the future."
With more than 70 years of experience in the background, Harrah's has grown through development of new properties, expansions and acquisitions, and now owns or manages casinos on four continents. That’s pretty impressive, right?
According to a recent press release, during “The CEO Show” with Robert Reiss, Gary Loveman, CEO Harrah’s Entertainment, also spoke about the Customer Loyalty, discussing how Harrah’s reinvests approximately 15% of customer gaming revenues into benefits that are given back to customers in the form of services catering. Loveman also mentioned something about the corporate culture that empowers over 100,000 employees throughout Harrah’s 51 casinos. Loveman explains that when customers are happy, they tend to spend more, and if you know what the customer likes, your business can deliver the desired services while receiving a reasonable return. Could this be his key to success?
You might like to know that Loveman brought his expertise in the science of customer service from Harvard, where he left his position in 1998 to join Harrah’s Entertainment, being named CEO at the start of 2003. Under Loveman’s lead, using a customer relationship management system he pioneered, the organization has become an icon of the industry, increasing its revenues over 250% to $10.6 billion in 2007. Overall, Harrah knows its business strategies very well; it has recently exposed plans for expansion into promising foreign markets, using joint ventures in Slovenia and the Bahamas. Some of you, businessmen out there, could learn something from this!

NOT TO MISS: TITAN POKER’S SUPER COUNTDOWN TO BILLIONTH HAND!

The super cool online poker room everybody’s talking about lately, “Titan Poker” is showering its players once again with more goodies, in celebration of its Billionth Hand dealt. Of course, you know they’re is like the largest poker room on the entire iPoker Network, so it comes natural to display some online extravaganza, offering its faithful players chances to win fat cash prizes and making some competitors green with envy.
According to a recent press release, the countdown towards this memorable milestone begins with Titan Poker's 950,000,000th hand dealt, which means from this point on; players will have a wide variety of opportunities to take part in the Titan Poker-mania.
Apparently, the organizers have already prepared two simultaneous countdowns, each offering big cash prizes and chances to participate in the Billionth Hand. A spokesperson from Titan Poker commented: "We want all of our players to be a part of this race, because without their loyal game play we wouldn't be reaching this landmark event.”
Since September 2005, Titan Poker kept on providing great opportunities for online players to win big bucks. In fact, Titan Poker itself said it has busted its ass to live up to its name and to become the leading online poker room in Europe.
Today, even after the fellas’ have achieved the "giant" title in the online gaming industry, they still do not show any sign of resigning or slowing down. On the contrary, things are looking pretty damn good in their court! Giving the number of raked hands they generated during the promotional period, the iPoker Network star placed Omaha pot-limit enthusiasts on top positions.
So, all poker ‘aficionados’ playing at this popular website can now compete for a seat at the elite World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Furthermore, Titan Poker has three different opportunities for poker winners to qualify for attendance at the most glamorous after poker event of the year, occurring in June and July 2008.
Especially for this year, Titan Poker has prepared an "executive package" which promises to indulge top qualifying players with a Royal treatment, while attending the WSOP. The package is valued at about 20,000 bucks. Touché!
But the cherry on the top of the cake was definitely the February and March gambling period, as the poker site handed out $100,000 in prizes through its Omaha special promotion. It was reported that the highest-ranking players at the end of February received a share of $40,000, while the players topping the ranks at the end of March shared in a $60,000 prize pool.
In a press release, Titan Poker added: "Omaholics was the first promotion to be held solely for Omaha players, and it attracted hundreds of Omaha Pot-Limit players who were able to compete for huge cash prizes whilst playing their favorite game."
You might also need to know that the brainy mind behind the poker's software is said to be Playtech. Additional info: Titan Poker is said to guarantee more than $12,500,000 in monthly prizes, has nearly 30,000 online players at peak hours, and awards winning players with entries to the major poker tournaments worldwide. No to mention Titan Poker features jackpot ‘sit 'n' go tournaments’ with progressive prizes and “delicious” jackpots as high as $100,000.
Not bad at all!

FRANCE UPLOADS ‘GAMBLING REVOLUTION’!

With an online population of over 26 million (source: Comscore), France is being considered a considerable fat slice of a potential online audience. In this case, their “snobby” gambling actions have been eagerly watched by industry insiders.
However, online gambling stuff is not doing so great on their ground, as France has been engaged in direct confrontation with the EU, ever since last year, when it introduced new laws to remove non state-run online gambling operations from the market. With this rather silly policy, it was in breach of article 49 of the European Treaty, which allows a free market in the service sector within the EU, allowing competition in the sector.
Ever since, a considerable number of French casinos have fight for possible legalization and won the approval of eCogra, the industry standards body. Since then, online casino was operating under high standards of safety and security for players. Nevertheless, this action was as a proactive and positive move, considering that the French authorities have threatened to levy ISPs with a massive 675,000 Euro fine, for not warning their users that they were entering an illegal website.
Afterwards, French authorities decided to go from a bad gambling approach to a more positive way of dealing with it. Recently, the French newspapers have speculate all sorts of optimistic plans, as a report of the Sarkozy administration has shown intentions to liberalize the French internet gambling operations, by applying a more open regulatory structure.
Consequently, the France parts already talks with the European Commission officials regarding its protectionist policies. Sadly, they only got some warnings from that EU enforcement body as a response.
However, it seems that a fresh change in presidency and an open optimistic approach could be ‘the trigger’ for some real French change. All these are strategies to bring France into compliance with EU requirements of free trade and services between EU member nations regarding the online gambling regulation. Furthermore, the European Commission has not commented on the media reports, yet, as they were only regarded as pure speculations notes.
As expected, the French monopoly ‘Francaise des Jeux’ is going to prepare serious attacks to delay this action for as much as possible. According to the French press, the Budget Minister, Mr. Eric Woerth has told the media that he will advise President Sarkozy to proceed with a ‘controlled opening’ of France’s online gambling market to private operators.
As for the online casino games, betting on sports events and the existing pari-mutuel horserace betting system, they have to be answered by officials. Some experts believe that the French government is keen to formulate a clear course of action before the summer.
Overall, if these speculations turn out to true, both online bingo industry and online bingo games operators will start to live the days of their life. Let’s not forget, France is already under pressure from the European Commission (EC) which has listed it amongst those nations it may have to take action against due to protectionist policies.
There seems to be no better way to satisfy both EC and French gamblers, than realizing that the ‘online casino globalization’ will happen! It’s just a matter of time!

888 IS DOING JUST GREAT!

888 told Reuters that its online gaming firm is looking rather optimistic. In fact, they’re announcing 30 percent revenue growth this year. The financial result was also boosted by a ‘better-than-expected start’ from its new sports betting and bingo sites, which are offered online, free and for real money.
During a telephone interview with a media source, the Chief Executive, Gigi Levy, said: "Current run rate indicates 20 percent (overall revenue growth), and we are bullish on pushing this. Do I think 30 percent is too much? No, I don't think 30 is too much.” Levy added that the firm's new bingo and sports betting web sites were also seeing strong growth, which means even more bucks for their business.
He also stated: "Bingo is doing dramatically above anything we expected. The run rate is currently where we expected to get to by the end of the year, it's that good. Sports was only launched a few weeks ago, and already last week we had hundreds of new sign-ups every day."
Online poker and casino firms have been gradually rebuilding their businesses after the U.S introduced of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in October 2006, and closed off the world's biggest market in 2006, with a ban on gambling-related banking transactions.
After the state legislature failed to adopt a new budget by the constitutional deadline, the government shutdown has resulted in the closure of all "non-essential" government offices, among which the state Casino Control Commission itself. Nevertheless, the move was a major financial blow and wiped billions of dollars off the value of online gaming stocks virtually overnight and led to a number of founders and online executives being prosecuted for taking illegal bets.
However, 888 and its rivals PartyGaming and Sportingbet are now locked in talks with U.S. lawmakers. Levy commented: "I think it's getting clearer and clearer for everyone that this may take time, but this is heading one way, and that is towards a resolution. 888 and PartyGaming have said they expect a deal, whatever it is, to be reached during the second half of the year.”
Nevertheless, analysts are not looking happy on that, as they expect the firms to be hit with hefty fines. In change, they predict a sort of consolidation strategy, giving the land-based casino operators and bookmakers’ tendency to buy up fast-growing online firms.
In response to this, Levy said it was unlikely 888 would ‘resurrect’ previous failed deals with PartyGaming or UK bookmaker Ladbrokes. Overall, The Pacific Poker and Foxy bingo operator said that 2008 had started well as it posted 2007 profits of $46 million. And the analysts were dazzled! As for the current analyst forecasts, they expect the firm to report a 2008 pretax profit of no less than 60 million bucks! Keep up the good work!

NO MORE BACKGAMMON BOARDS ON TURKISH STREETS!

I'd always thought of backgammon as a bit of “an old man's game”. However, imagine you’re strolling in Istanbul on a road full of nargile- water pipes places, on narrow, cozy streets and you watch locals playing backgammon with buddies, while drinking the cheapest beer on top of tiny chairs and eat delicious home plates of traditional cuisine. This imagines seems so Turkish-like, right? Well, wake up and smell the taste of “modern” times, when you’re fined for playing petanque on your neighbor lawn or backgammon with your gang.

Starting today, you won’t see any backgammon board on the streets of Istanbul, as a recent municipal patrol regulation had banned this rather harmful street gaming. There is no word whether they’re going to fine chess players or arrest bingo ladies as well.

However, Backgammon is a very popular game in Turkey and it has a couple of pros in the field, like Tunc Hamarat- the famous Turkish chess players might have seen this coming when he decided to move to Vienna. Hamarat plays backgammon professionally and loves Jazz, which makes us love him!

Anatolia news agency has also compared playing backgammon on the streets with “taking a walk with the dog by the seaside, as both actions are to result in a fine of YTL 125 in the Mediterranean region's Alanya district”. Apparently, the new regulation consists of no less than 190 crazy articles which are set to be announced next week. Wait till you see that coming! Besides dog owners or backgammon players, those who do not give up their seats to elderly or pregnant people on public buses will be fined YTL 125. Does it make any sense to you?
Moreover, all the owners of little shops and stores are going to be responsible for cleaning the street in front of their stores, and they will be fined YTL 125 if they do not keep it clean... of dust, chess players, backgammon or dogs or whatever they may find!
Furthermore, places of entertainment such as clubs and bars are also going to be fined YTL 250 if they are found not to have security cameras and they will be fined another YTL 500 if they still do not have them in a second check. And the places that are still found to be lacking cameras during a third check will be fined YTL 750 and will be shut down for a week. And if the 4th time there is still no sign of camera, they’re going to burn the place down. (kiddin’)Auch!
Other interesting bans, which are being analyzed by the residents of Alanya, concern the drivers who splash water and dirt at pedestrians on the streets, intentionally or not, they will be fined YTL 125.
Not to mention, drinking alcoholic beverages in parks and gardens is banned, and those who do not comply will be fined YTL 125. All the hairdressers have to have a washing machine in the shop. Nevertheless, all personnel dealing with customers must have an identification badge. Stepping on lawns and flowers will be fined with YTL 125, according to the new and bit ‘wacky’ regulations.
I just wonder if they realize that banning street backgammon will encourage all those pensioners who have formed clubs for social play of backgammon to move their businesses online, where they can play for real money and not for Turkish delight, which means more online casinos, more money and more addicts! The Backgammon street-style is dead. Long live online casinos! I just hope I won’t get fined for this!

CRYPTOLOGIC: FEELING BLUE AFTER DUTCH DECISION ON INTERNET GAMING!

CryptoLogic must have run into some recent business numbers that are a little... depressing. They explain the whole thing, but first here’s the background! CryptoLogic is one of the biggest brands in the Internet gaming software industry. Recently, it was officially revealed that the company is not going to be materially affected by the Dutch decision that will prevent Holland Casino from establishing an Internet gaming site. Of course, the rejection was a really painful kick in the pants!
Apparently CryptoLogic got its hopes too high hoping to benefit from the establishment of such a site. However, not everything was in vane, as the company reported it has been fully compensated for its development work and also prepares some other revenue-generation initiatives underway in both Europe and Asia. So, the problem is not money-related, but more like someone worked on something that virtually found no light out!
The CryptoLogic's President and CEO, Mr. Brian Hadfield said: "While advocates of safe, secure and regulated e-gaming are disappointed with the Dutch decision, CryptoLogic never places all its bets on one table. That's why this decision will have no material impact on our business. We recognized the challenge in Holland early and prepared our business by accelerating other revenue-generating initiatives."
According to a recent press release, CryptoLogic expects to benefit from various new initiatives this spring and summer. These hot news plans include the release of non-download poker for all customers, as well as the launch of the new World Poker Tour casino, plus a fresh release of casino games and new software development for Betsafe, Sun Poker and World Poker Tour's German- and Spanish-language products. The company is also considering some potential new licensees.
CryptoLogic announced a licensing contract with Holland Casino, the Netherlands' government-licensed casino operator, which was a subject to ratification. Recently, the decision not to allow the Internet casino was taken in a narrow 37-35 vote.
The irony: the decision contrasts with the ways the United Kingdom and other nations are dealing with fiscal and consumer protection benefits that come with regulating Internet gaming.
Notably, CryptoLogic is known for its regulated and transparent gaming environment, which protects its players, as well as all the taxpayers in all the countries where it operates. Nevertheless, CryptoLogic remains one of the first and only software providers that have “earned government certification in the world's most stringent regulatory jurisdictions”.
CryptoLogic CEO, Mr. Hadfield also added: "CryptoLogic will continue to advocate regulation as the logical solution for all Internet gaming stakeholders - including players, investors and taxpayers. CryptoLogic will remain focused on delivering ground-breaking, customized innovations to the world's blue-chip gaming and entertainment brands - and on growing our business around the world."
Sigh...This was a tough one, folks. Overall, even if it’s virtually taken, a kick in the ass, should be a major step forward!

CASINO- CHEATING GANG BOSS PLEADS GUILTY!

Nowadays, the casino industry is being associated with cheating and crime, even if recent research has shown that, it’s in fact, of the cleanest and most successful Internet businesses ever.
Phuong Quoc Truong, also known as John Truong and "Pai Gow" John, will surely remain in the history as the leader of Casino-Cheating criminal enterprise who managed to perform a masterpiece racketeering Conspiracy on 16 casinos.

The Criminal Division Assistant Attorney General Alice S. Fisher, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California Karen P. Hewitt, and U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington Jeffrey C. Sullivan have just announced that “Pai Gow” has pleaded guilty, to conspiring and participate in the conduct of the affairs of a racketeering enterprise, known as the "Tran Organization." The hollywoodian scheme was mostly based on bribes to casino supervisors and card dealers and blocks of unshuffled cards. These were the only tools the bad guys used to soak millions of dollars out of 16 casinos.

Moreover, according to a recent press release, Truong also pleaded guilty multiple charges, among which conspiring to commit theft from an Indian tribal Emerald Queen Casino gaming establishment. A three-count indictment was already returned in San Diego on May last year, charging Phuong Quoc Truong and 13 others each with one count of conspiracy to participate in the affairs of a racketeering enterprise; one count of conspiracy to commit several offenses against the U.S., including conspiracy to steal money and other property from Indian tribal casinos; and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering.

What Phuong Quoc Truong surely forgot to take into account is that the racketeering conspiracy charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The conspiracy charge relating to theft from an Indian tribal gaming establishment carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Notably, in his plea agreement, Truong admitted he was the one to create the criminal enterprise "Tran Organization", based in San Diego, exclusively for the purpose of participating in gambling cheats at casinos across the U.S.

He even said that, together with his co-conspirators, have unlawfully obtained up to $7 million during card cheats, while the proceeds of the racketeering conspiracy amounted to at least $2,791,146. Unfortunately, selling two houses in the San Diego area, two properties in Vietnam, the 2001 Porsche Carrera, a Rolex Presidential watch and a white gold Mercedes logo diamond-encrusted pendant still won’t be enough to cover the massive hole! And “Pai Gow” is only the seventh of 19 members of the ring to plead guilty!

AFTER CRICKET, THERE SHALL BE... POKER?!

My fellow poker addicts of the world, ask not what the poker will do for you, but what together we can do for the poker! Shane Warne has just drooped cricket for the poker way! Consequently, the first-class cricketer will not be taking up his contract to captain English country side, Hampshire this year, but it will definitely play some sleazy poker in a damp place full or booze and babes! All right, or at home, with his kids in front of the PC.
The weirdest thing of all, is that Warne actually announced his retirement from the first-class game in a text message sent to The Times newspaper in London. Now, why did you do that, Shane? It’s exactly the same thing as breaking up with a chick on the telephone...
Later on, he added: "My eight years involved with Hampshire have been a wonderful experience. Memories that will last with me forever and likewise the friendships that have been formed at the club. Unfortunately I am retiring from all first-class crickets but will participate in the IPL. Due to some exciting business opportunities and wanting to spend more time with my children, I had to make this call."
Can you imagine that Rajasthan Royals actually bought Warne for $A490,000 by during this month's IPL player auction? After seeing the mass hysteria around this mad decision, they must have immediately decided against the move, although he says he was the one decided to focus on a poker career and his children. Ain’t that sweet? But, it’s wrong!
Through his lifetime career, Warne took about 708 wickets in 145 Tests, following his 1992 debut. He was going to play for Hampshire again this season, but the county club's chairman, Rod Bransgrove, said the two parties had mutually agreed to a parting of the ways. Of course, he forgot to mention he first chase him down with a 22 rifle and a sack full of pennies...(kidding)
According to couriermail, Warne also said: "I know this will be a major disappointment to many fans of both Hampshire and Shane but, after much discussion and soul-searching, it has become clear to both of us that Shane can no longer make the commitment required to continue to lead Hampshire.”
In response, Hampshire chairman, Rod Bransgrove added: "When Shane came to us in 2000 Hampshire were a sleepy provincial club," he said. "Now we are among the leading sides in the country and much of that is down to Shane." Don’t get to emotional, guys!
It seems like Warne's ability to fulfill the final year of his contract in England became uncertain, after a conflict with the Indian Premier League, when the dates for the new Twenty20 competition were put back, from April 18 to June 1.
Several negotiations with Bransgrove, forced Warne to return at the end of July with the aim of playing through August and September. It was back then, when Bransgrove, detected a change in tone from the player, for the first time.
According to the Australian, Bransgrove said: "He was so keen to come back and we were so keen to have him. Over the past week he has been away with his kids again, for the second time this year, and nobody can overestimate how important that side of his life is to him.We both arrived at the same conclusion and in the end we both knew that it was the right thing to do. He was as sad as I was."
Warne was already separated from Simone, his wife, and was keen not to spend longer than necessary away from his three kids, Brooke (10), Jackson (8) and Summer (6).
If you come to think about it, this is a really sad story, however, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for you, Warne buddy and welcome in the club! Poker rules!

MONTEL WILLIAMS JOINS EUROPEAN POKER QUEST!

Ladies and gentlemen, the poker guru, one man show, a.k.a Montel Williams was recently named a member of Team USA to play in the PartyPoker.com Poker Nations Cup. The event will taking place in Cardiff, Wales from Apr. 7-10. Moreover, it seems like the talk show host and former Lieutenant Commander in the Navy was picked by team captain Robert Williamson III, and will be joined by team-mates Jamie Gold, Freddy Deeb, Chris Ferguson, and Chad Brown.
Famous Williams will compete in the $5,000 buy-in event against other countries like: Sweden, Britain, Ireland, Netherlands, and Germany hunting for an attractive team prize of $100,000. However, all winners of individual matches will take home about $20,000. Furthermore, Party Poker has added $100,000 to the prize pool. But, the final sees the team captains make tactical substitutions and strategic time outs.
Williams said of his national call-up, “I am thrilled and honored that I have been invited to be a part of Team USA for the Poker Nations Cup. My teammates are extraordinary, as I have played against many of them in the past year and now look forward to teaming up with them in our quest to defeat poker pros from around the globe.”
Surprisingly, Williams burst onto the poker scene only in 2007 WSOP Main Event, where he held the chip lead for the majority of one day.
But, he is no stranger to poker, as he first played the game when he was in the Navy, and often saw entire paychecks on the line during his tour of duty. According to Wikipedia, Williams was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1999 and he now heads the Montel Williams MS Foundation. Ever since, he has organized numerous charity poker tournaments.
Obviously, there will be no qualifier from the United States, because PartyPoker doesn't accept American players, due to U.S. online gaming legislation, so Williamson III thought Williams would be an excellent candidate to make up for the lost player.
As for the team of defending Swedish champions, it will once again be captained by Bo Sehlstedt and feature the same: Mats Rahm, William Thorsson, Johan Storakers and Anders Henriksson. And online qualifier, Johan Ocklind will join them as they attempt to repeat as champions.
The Irish team will be headed up by Captain Padraig Parkinson, joined by Donnacha O'Dea, Marty Smyth, Ciaran O'Leary and Liam Flood, Darren O'Brian will join the team as a qualifier.
As for the British team, it will be captained by Hendon Mobber Rolande de Wolfe, along with recent Irish Poker Open champ Neil Channing, Ian Frazer, Surinder Sunar, Joe Beevers and qualifier Francis Durbin.
The Dutch team will have Marcel "Flying Dutchman" Luske, as their captain, as well as Luske will be Eric van der Berg, Daan Ruiter, Thierry van der Berg and Quirijn van der Peet, as qualifiers.
And finally, the German team will be represented by Captain Michael Keiner, along with Andreas Krause, Benjamin Kang, Sebastian Ruthenberg and Thomas "Buzzer" Bihl. Thomas Potzal is the German qualifier.
Overall, featuring such a diverse group of players, the PartyPoker Poker Nations Cup is surely going to be one of the most thrilling international tournaments, in recent history. Don’t forget the event is being filmed for international broadcast!
Once again, these are the captains of the nations:
Sweden — Bo Sehlstedt,
Britain — Roland De Wolfe
Ireland — Padraig Parkinson
USA — Robert Williiamson III
Germany — Michael Keiner

POKERTEK GETS $3 MILLION IN LOANS!

To us, the mortals, big loans are committed once in a blue moon! But if you’re name is PokerTek things drastically change! Remember the company has announced a needed infusion of cash last week? Well, apparently, they’re going to get it! It seems like a group of executives and board members at PokerTek have effortlessly lent about 2 million bucks to the Mattews-based company.

Besides that, PokerTek's filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission has revealed they’re taking out another $1 million loan from UBS, in exchange for a lien against PokerTek's holdings of auction rate securities. According to a recent press release, the loan was made personally by Lyle Berman, James Crawford, Lee Lomax and Lou White and it is extended to the company on favorable terms with no dilutive warrants and carries no prepayment penalties or performance covenants. In fact the Company agreed to secure the loan using PokerTek's fleet of PokerPro tables in the field as collateral.

In the same press release, the chairman and one of the investors, Lile Berman, said that: "Quite simply, we believe in the future of the company. This loan allows our team to continue executing their plan that, thus far, has delivered revenue growth while efficiently managing costs." So, they’re just expanding and not having any rough time?!

The legal terms seem to be rather permissive with this kind of money, as the loan was issued at an interest rate of 13% and involves an interest payable on March 24, 2010. Not to mention the agreement leaves open the possibility for an extra $1 million loan, in case what they’ve already sucked is still not enough! The official representative’s statements were surprisingly neutral, as it has been reported that PokerTek was already facing some cash flow problems. In fact, at the end of 2007, PokerTek had $7.2 million in current assets on its balance sheet, but they had only a little more than $3 million a quarter, as a solid reserve. Apparently, even with improving performance, they’d still need to secure more funding, as the numbers they indicated in their last earnings report show they were not living the best days ever. Besides thatm the US credit crisis has just precipitated PokerTek's cash concerns!

PokerTek's CEO, Chris Halligan, added: “We are grateful to the founders who, by putting up their own capital, have demonstrated confidence in management and PokerTek. We had been exploring options over the last few weeks and had several offers from outside firms to fund the company. We believe that funding PokerTek from within the family' and at such favorable terms was clearly in the Company's best interest”.
PokerTek's CFO, Mark Roberson responded: “We remain well positioned to grow in 2008. We remain confident in our future in both the casino and amusement businesses and look forward to reporting our Q1 results in April.”

Back in October 2005, PokerTek issued 2 million shares at its initial public offering in, raising about $28 million. Even if at the end of 2007, $6 million of PokerTek's current assets were invested in auction rate securities, they have experienced failed during early 2008, meaning that they have not been able to liquidate their investments in the ordinary course of monthly auctions. Later on, on March 31st, PokerTek has officially reclassified their auction rate securities as “non-current assets.”

So, I just wonder, do they needed a push to go up, or are they down? Powered by: http://www.casinodiario.com

DUTCH SENATE SAYS “NO!” TO HOLLAND CASINO PLAN

I don’t know about you, but when I think of Dutch the first thing that comes to my mind are cheese, windmills, wooden shoes, and silly flower bulbs! I didn’t say anything about Amsterdam, space cookies and pot, did I?
The Dutch parliament voted down a bill that would have given online casino operator Holland Casino the green light to open a gambling Web site on a trails basis.
Apparently, Holland Casino was to be granted exclusive license to open up an online casino. It seems that the plan had been approved by a lower house of the Dutch Parliament two years ago. But it was the upper house that refused to bite the cheese this time. Consequently, the Dutch Senate vetoed the proposed online Holland Casino plan by a vote of 35-37. Auch!
But, maybe that’s a good thing after all, as the passage of the bill would have allowed Holland's gambling monopoly. They probably just though there are already too many types of ‘cheese’ in the online industry, so, it wouldn’t have been fair to give Holland Casino the chance to wear the Rochford label.
However, if this bill had passed it would have protected the Dutch gamblers, which are estimated at about 400,000. No to mention it would have allowed competition with big international companies operating gambling sites, such as PartyGaming, Bwin and Sportingbet.
The final vote has disappointed CryptoLogic as well, as it worked to develop the Holland Casino site. According to winneronline.com, the online gaming company was prepared for this: "While advocates of safe, secure and regulated e-gaming are disappointed with the Dutch decision, CryptoLogic never places all its bets on one table. That’s why this decision will have no material impact on our business. We recognized the challenge in Holland early and prepared our business by accelerating other revenue-generating initiatives,” Crypto CEO, Brian Hadfield, stated.
There are some other countries in Europe that have been reluctant to open up online gambling among which Germany and France. They official representatives said that the major concern regards gambling addiction and the state betting monopolies losing revenue.
Nevertheless, the European Commission has warned Holland for its gambling laws. Along with Greece, Holland was issued a final warning in February by the EU that action would be taken against it for restricting competition.
Overall, the Dutch should work on hold on the sex industry and to combat the exploitation of prostitution, not to mention they should take a closer look at those coffee shops, which are serving more than fortune cookies to underage kids.
So, if the Dutch famous brothels were officially banned, but they have been allowed to operate under lax conditions and exercise their competition, should we expect the same to happen to the online gaming industry?

PLAY BACKGAMMON MASTERS' IN BULGARIAN!

Finally, their taking advantage of their online leading position! BackgammonMasters has proudly announces the launching of a Blackjack and Poker Software in Bulgarian, their native language.

Apparently, using a single download, all the players can have instant access to the BackgammonMasters Game Lobby, in 14 different languages. You can play in French, German, Spanish, English, Portuguese, Danish, Hebrew, Arabic, Turkish, Greek, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, and now Bulgarian!

The players simply log in to the All-in-One Game Lobby and then click on the country flag representing their desired language, as easy as taking a candy from a baby. Notably, the online backgammon website receives transactions in USD, Euros, GBP and Canadian Dollars and more important, there is no extra fee charged for currency conversion. Meanwhile, BackgammonMasters support is only available in English, but we’re sure they’re going to work on that as well.
Notably, the multi-language game platform includes lots of popular games such as: Poker, Backgammon, 21 Blackjack and Perudo. It’s a really good thing they’re making the software available in so many languages, as the online gaming industry is constantly growing in all parts of the world. Using the latest features in social networking structure, the BackgammonMasters has attracted one of the largest community networks of players online at any particular time. Besides using their skills and intelligence, they get to compete in real gaming tournaments, but most of all, they are given the opportunity to exercise their social muscle, interacting via real-time chat and simultaneously participating in their popular online games. Therefore, they are not winning only money, but also friends and respect in a newly structured online ‘gang’.

Nevertheless, one of the best advantages offered by the BackgammonMasters game tables is that players of all levels can find a seat at any of the tables, no matter gaming profile or status. And with each language that’s being added to their portfolio, the players find they are surrounded by a truly multi-national pool of game enthusiasts, looking for a table to join. Besides, the company announced some future language additions, such as Dutch and Russian with many others to follow in the near future.
Overall, the fellas from BackgammonMasters do not lose time at all! They just popped out a LIVE Customer Support service, which provides players with top-level assistance from a live operator at the simple click of a button. Of course, this feature was first launched in English, but they promise it will later be available in many other languages. Bulgarians, you may be the next lucky ones!
Which reminds me, there this backgammon version, where the goal is to be the first player to bear off all of your checkers...I just wonder if BackgammonMasters uses the same catchy strategy on their competitors? Probably...
