JENNIFER HARMAN'S "ANIMAL LOVERS" TOURNAMENT

Most people focus on just one thing in life besides family, and that is a hobby. While some say that they find it easy to balance them both (and it's really not that difficult, except if the hobby is whale-watching or something else that might keep them apart from their families), having a third occupation and sticking to it with fanatic-like fervor might disrupt the harmonious combination.

Jennifer Harman-Traniello, however, has the above trifecta managed down to perfection, although she admits that sometimes it's difficult to keep the balance. You might remember her as the little girl with the candid smile sitting down at the poker table with big-shot superstars who did not shy away from raking a pot worth a million bucks. That was the first of the three, poker playing, where she's become a true legend. She still plays now and then, but family life has gotten to her so Jennifer has had to cut down a little and leave the hands be dealt without her sitting at the green canvas table.

Nevertheless, giving her new family a bigger spot in her life has been very fruitful, as now she's the proud mother of twin boys, but her mother's instincts had long been exercised over the third and final highlight of her life, the love for animals. Besides the two toddlers, the Harman-Traniello home is filled with pets that need just as much attention. Everybody loves the little puppies or kittens, but once they grow, some forget that they are responsible for the animals' wellbeing and leave them loose on the streets. And Jennifer is all against it.

She's a very important member of the Nevada Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and her latest idea to turn into a real event are the two events that support that cause. It's not her first, though, as last year she hosted a live poker tournament at Caesars Palace that brought the NSPCA over 130 grand. Many pros honored the event with their presence, and some even tossed in other player's buy-ins and rebuys as the tournament unfolded, according to Poker News, just to benefit the cause.

This year she's doubling the number of the tournaments, and the first will be hosted by FullTiltPoker.com on the 16th of March, at 9 PM EST. Dubbed "Animal Lovers," it can be found under the "Tournaments" tab in the lobby. If you need some more info, it's Tourney #42450298, and it will be $10 up front as an entry fee, with 50 percent of all the money going to the NSPCA and the other 50 percent making up the prize pool for the winners. "Having a tournament online will allow more players to participate and support our efforts to save animals from euthanizing them and help find them loving homes," Jennifer said.
